Being a true traveler is an exciting way of living and it’s a priority of many people who are passionate to see the world. It is indeed a lovely thing to be always on the road. For many people, traveling is a lifestyle which doesn’t necessarily require luxury.
Most travelers pack light and choose not to carry too heavy suitcases or backpacks with them. Which means that the longer the trip, the more often they need to wash the small amount of clothes they bring. And as frugally and simply as some travelers are used to travel the world, there are things connected to their comfort that are inevitable, such as clean clothes and how to keep them fresh while traveling. It does sound like something that is hard to do, but it’s definitely not impossible. Here are some tips on how to keep your clothes clean while you’re on the road.
Hotel Or Hostel
It really depends on the way a person chooses to travel. In case you stay at hotels on your journey, washing your clothes wouldn’t normally be a problem. Most hotels and hostels offer laundry services, which are usually very affordable. In case there is no washing machine in the hotel or hostel where you’re staying, you can also hand-wash your clothes and find a place in your room where you can hang them to dry.
Therefore, it’s a good idea to provide yourself with the necessary laundry supplies in advance. Very handy tools you might need in order to wash your clothes when traveling are a sink plug, mini laundry detergents pack and a stretchy clothes line. They are light and won’t take much space in your rucksack or suitcase and at the same time can become real life-savers when having them with you during your travel.
If you’re an adventure-lover or you love to spend your time in nature, you probably prefer to sleep in a tent. In that case, washing your clothes becomes a bit more complicated. If you travel in the summer and stay near a lake, you can always use the water to wash your clothes and find a place on a tree to hang them.
They will dry fast and be ready to wear again. In case there is no body of water near you, you can use your laundry supplies to wash your clothes in a gas station bathroom or a café. Another option you have is to buy a large bottle or water, use it to wash your clothes and hang them to dry somewhere near your tent. Of course, if you visit friends on the way, you can always ask them to use their washing machine and dryer.
Dry Cleaning Services
If you stop in towns when traveling, you can probably find a dry-cleaners in most of them. Leave your dirty clothes there for a wash and go for a walk. In a few hours you will have seen some nice tourist attractions and will have picked up your clean and dry clothes.
